Ivor learned to fly airplanes in Ireland in 1972. Always having a love for helicopters, he finally took the opportunity to get his helicopter rating in California in 1986. This started his career in aviation in which he has accumulated over 8,000 flight hours. With an FAA approved Motion Picture Manual and as a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), he has developed an excellent reputation with directors and camera operators as a pilot they can depend on to get the best shots while keeping them safe. Ivor has been credited in many television shows, major motion pictures and Imax movies (See Ivor Shier’s IMDB profile). Ivor also possesses a talent for matching helicopter buyers with aircraft. Ivor is one of the founders and shareholders of the company.
Deann graduated from the University of Hawaii and began her involvement with the tour helicopter business over thirty years ago through the venues of marketing and aerial photography. After moving to San Diego she realized that her marketing and business experience could be applied to the helicopter business in San Diego. She is one of the co-founders of the company and she has spent the last two decades dedicating her time to improving the professionalism and quality of the company. Deann has grown with the company, tackling the everyday executive management tasks required to guide and reach the desired vision and goals.
Mandy joined the Corporate Helicopters team as Account Manager and was promoted to Vice President of Operations in 2006. Mandy is talented at planning customized excursions and group events. She is the lead organizer of the company’s aircraft on major sporting events such as SCORE Off-Road Races and the America’s Cup Yachting Races in San Diego and San Francisco. She also works with Ivor Shier, SAG Pilot and Director of Operations, to coordinate film and television productions. Mandy still expresses her artistic side by taking pictures from one of the company’s helicopters while on an aerial photography assignment.
Michael Duncan, a Northern California native was raised around aviation. Always in tow with his grandfather at the local airport, he soon became enamored with helicopters and early on decided a career in Helicopters was his calling. Michael obtained his A&P in 1987 and began his journey as a Helicopter Technician. After 15 years maintaining primarily Law Enforcement and EMS Helicopters, he desired additional challenges. In 2002, Michael decided to follow the path into management and became a leader in Helicopter Maintenance Management. During the last 12 years he has held several leadership positions in which he has made a positive impact upon each organization he has been associated with. Over the last 27 years Michael has earned several Bronze, Silver, Gold and Ruby FAA AMT awards. He has received Certificate of Achievement from Bell Helicopter, Eurocopter, Robinson, Roll Royce and ZFL. Michael joined the Corporate Helicopters team in 2012 as Chief Inspector and has proven a valuable team member.
Jon obtained his A&P license in 1981 in Amarillo Texas. Upon moving to SD in 1985 he began specializing on helicopters. After 15 years working for the SDPD Air Support Unit he made a career change in early 2003 to assume the demanding position of Director of Maintenance for Corporate Helicopters. Jon has attended factory schools for Bell Helicopters, MD Helicopters and Rolls Royce engines and in 1999 was named ALEA Technician of the year.
Gary Roesink, a San Diego native, started flying airplanes when he was 14 years old. Surrounded by a family of pilots he soloed for the first time in an airplane while in high school. He attended Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth and then returned to San Diego to begin his flying career. Gary worked for the San Diego Police Department for 23 years during which time he flew for ABLE and worked with the K-9 Unit. He completed the Aviation Safety Program Management at the University of Southern California in 1992. In 2005, Gary joined the Corporate Helicopters team, eventually earning the title of Chief Pilot. His current mission is to oversee pilots and their training to assure safe, efficient, professional operations, with the best pilots in the industry.
Peter Clark, a transplant from the East Coast, found a passion for flying during a scenic tour in Hawaii. He began training while attending Syracuse University in New York. After college, he could not resist the beautiful weather in San Diego. After working for 4 years at The Scripps Research Institute, it was time to follow the dream to become a pilot. Peter earned his Helicopter Ratings through the Commercial Pilot Flight Training Program at Corporate Helicopters in San Diego. He then joined the flight training team as an Instructor and continued to develop his piloting skills in the diverse types of flying at Corporate Helicopters such as tours, charters, aerial photography. Peter became the Chief Flight Instructor for the Part 141 Flight Training Academy in 2015.
Clint is a Texas native who started his career in aviation with Southwest Airlines before graduating from University of Oklahoma. He later joined Bell Helicopter where he held multiple positions in finance, contracts, proposal management and international marketing in Latin America. During his time at Bell he earned an MBA from Texas Christian University, which ultimately landed him in San Diego as a regional helicopter sales manager for the West Coast. Clint’s diversified industry experience will help will be valuable in his role of business development and helicopter sales. Clint loves to fly and is an FAA Commercial Rated Helicopter pilot. He and his beautiful wife love living in America’s finest city.
Julie began working as the Marketing Specialist for Corporate Helicopters in 2013. Aviation became a part of her life the day she met her husband, CH-53e pilot for the USMC, which influenced her to take a new adventure in the helicopter world. Julie’s passion for marketing took-off in the credit union industry, which encouraged her to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing at the University of Houston in 2008. Upon graduating, she led marketing efforts for a few years with an audit software distribution company. Her business operation knowledge, creative design ability and outgoing personality make her a great asset to our team.
