The AStar helicopter is fabulous for tours and charters. It has five forward-facing seats with spacious windows for a great view. The soft leather seats and the air conditioning make flights comfortable even on hot days. “Naked Beauty”

Ivor Shier loves Mexico and has fun with the Mexican Navy even during the regular inspection of the helicopter at the Security Base in Bahia Kino in Sonora Mexico. Pilot Enrique Garcia provided all of the ground support during the filming of "Naked Beauty", a Disney Wildlife film that is slated to come out in 2011. John Trapman was the Aerial Director of Photography and has flown with Ivor on many projects in Mexico.

Ocean Adventure

One of our adventurous clients hired us for a job in Baja for Billabong. Pilot Gary Roesink flew the Astar dropping professional wake boarder Brian Grubb out of the helicopter into a wave at La Mission in Baja for Billabong’s new wakeboarding film, “Out of the Pond”.

Mining Safari

Pilot Gary Roesink flew geologists into remote areas of Baja to evaluate the possibility of mining operations. Some of the mining claims had artifacts dating back to the early 20th century. One bottle was found that was manufactured in 1902. Gary’s years of experience made it possible to fly in the challenging conditions where he had to carefully compute the fuel burn, range and max gross weight of the helicopter to maximize the area they could travel in a day.

Just for Fun

Pilot Christi Miller flew passengers Lauren and Sean above the major attractions in San Diego in a brand new R44 with leather interior and air conditioning. Not everyone knows that the sand dunes next to the Del Coronado Hotel spell “Coronado” in huge letters. Flying over San Diego is full of delightful surprises!

MCAI Meeting

Corporate Helicopters hosted the MCAI (Media Communications Association International) San Diego Chapter meeting in our hangar on June 30th. MCAI Members consist of local Media Professionals who meet once a month to connect and keep up on the current events in the local film industry. Guest Speakers at the event included Corporate Helicopters’ President and Film Pilot, Ivor Shier and Cathy McCurdy, Director of Feature Films for the San Diego Film Commission.
